It is a prequel to his three previous books featuring his most famous character, the cannibalistic serial killer Dr. I just wanted to discuss my feeling with the gang here.Hannibal Rising is a psychological horror novel by American author Thomas Harris, published in 2006. I feel he should be seen as a horrifying asshole with no remorse and not as some anti hero who is misunderstood. I can't use the childhood trauma of Hannibal as an excuse to justify everything else. In that case, the book ends on a very negative note of the main character being used and abused by this same evil guy.

Granted that there is a hint that Lecter has screwed her brain up with psychosis and she really isn't aware of her actions completely. That somehow struck as really weird as I don't see any reason or the book showed any indication that Clarice can ever make such a decision. Worst part is at the end of Hannibal book, he can Clarice Starling end up together. Is it because he was always somehow portrayed as a heroic character that i fell for him, or is it because subconsciously i am attracted towards 'alpha male hero' characters who are always shown to be in control and dominating and outsmarting everyone else. He has killed a lot of innocent people just for the heck of it and deserves horrible legal consequences. But apart from that Lecter is a horrible serial killing psychopath who tortures and eats his victims to no end. I realise that it may be because he always helped Clarice Starling while everyone else seemed to have been mean to her. I am confused now why i have always rooted for Dr Hannibal Lecter. And i have been reminiscing about these books for some time now. I love the pacing, the violence, the brutality and also the psychology.

I recently read The Red Dragon, Silence of the lambs and The Hannibal and loved them.
